Description:

Sister Aminah Assilmi was a Southern Baptist, a radical feminist and a broadcast journalist.

She discovered Islam in college while trying to convert others to Christianity.

She accepted Islam in 1977 and presently, she is an ambassador of Islam.

She was married and had three children, when her husband asked for a divorce, as she adjusted her life style to Islam.

Subsequently, the courts denied her custody of her children because of her conversion, unless she gave up Islam, which she refused to do.

Upon deciding to wear the hijab, she lost her job as an award-winning broadcaster in Denver. Since then, her ex-husband, her children, and her parents - ALL have embraced Islam (Allahu Akbar!)

She is currently the Director of International Union of Muslim Women.

She travels extensively speaking on college campuses, increasing public awareness and understanding of the faith.
