Siraj Wahhaj is the imam of Masjid Taqwa in Brooklyn, New York and is well known among Muslims in North America as a dynamic speaker and tireless supporter of Islamic causes. He accepted Islam in 1969 and since receiving training at Ummul Qura University in Makkah in 1978, he has gone on to become a national and international speaker on Islam. Imam Wahhaj has served as Vice President of the Islamic Society of North America since 1997 and has served on Majlis Ash-Shura since 1987. He is a past member of ISNA's Planning Committee and has served as a member of the Board of Advisors for NAIT from 1989-1993. Siraj Wahhaj has appeared on several national television talk show and interviews, especially after 9-11. He has also led anti-drug campaigns, receiving high praise from the media and the New York Police Department for initiating anti-drug patrol in Brooklyn that has closed down numerous drug houses. |
